Colourbox is looking for a software developer to start 1 August 2012 who is interested in both how the applications look and also in making them work correctly under the surface.

You will be a part of the team at Colourbox, an online image database headquartered in Odense, Denmark. Since 2003 we have revolutionized the way people buy and sell images.

We’re experiencing strong growth and need you to help create optimal conditions for continued future growth. Working in the development department, your focus will be on our applications that give a fantastic user experience to our existing 50.000 clients, while they also convert new visitors to clients. Our clients and visitors are from all over the world, so it’s important that the applications are robust, stable and without obscure quirks.

The Job…

Our projects can vary from small tweaks to the site to large projects consisting of several functionality changes, or the implementation of a completely new product. You will be involved in both the implementation of the design, but also the implementation of the needed changes to the underlying back-end code base that makes it all work.

You…

You are a developer who knows your way around web technologies such as HTML5, Javascript, PHP, CSS, SQL and friends. You can implement the design from a Photoshop file, so the end result looks exactly as it was designed — down to the last pixel, all while making sure it’s good code that performs well when there’s 50 people using it per second. You also know how to develop code that is reusable and modular. Seeing copy/paste code will automatically make you look at a way to refactor the code.

Our products are implemented as a Linux/Lighttpd/Memcached/MySQL(Percona)/PHP/Python system living on a virtualized platform (“The Cloud”). If a shell prompt is something that you try your utmost to avoid, then this job is probably not for you.
